Dear Addy,

When I was young, I was planning on being an astronaut. To me that was everything. I even participated in programs at space centers and met real astronauts. But then one day I had a lung problem and had to have surgery. It was scary and it hurt but the hardest part for me was all the changes in my life that came after. For a long time it limited what I could do and I knew I would never be an astronaut. It changed my whole life. But God had a purpose in all these changes and I can look back in my life now and see how much better God’s plan was and is for me. It was hard, but through it God made me stronger. God has a plan for you too. One thing I know about you is that you are already plenty strong and plenty courageous. So, if God is using this to make you even stronger than you already are, then He must have an amazing reason and I look forward to seeing what God will do through your life. Maybe you will be used to help other kids going through this same issue to have courage. Maybe God wants you to show your faith in Him to those around you in the middle of this new struggle. Maybe God just wants you to lean on Him more. Maybe God is reminding you of how many people love you so much. Maybe it is all the above and many more things. You are an amazing young lady. I have bragged on you to my family in Tennessee as the fearless Texas girl who rides horses and picks up snakes. I know you will get through this with flying colors but also know that you have an army of people who care about you and who are praying for you.
