STEP 1 – UNDERSTANDING GOD’S PURPOSE: RELATIONSHIP

God loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. He desires for you to experience peace and an abundant life here on earth as well as eternal life with Him in Heaven. He also promises that if we are sincere in seeking Him, seeking Him with all our heart, we will find Him.

The Bible says …

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” -Jeremiah 29:13

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” -John 1:12

“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” —Romans 5:1b (NKJV)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish

but have everlasting life.” —John 3:16 (NKJV)

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” —John 10:10 (NKJV)

Why don’t most people have this personal relationship, this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have?

STEP 2 – UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM OF SIN: OUR SEPARATION

We must understand that God has given us free will to choose righteousness or sin and everyone of us has chosen sin.

The Bible says …

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” —Romans 3:23 (NKJV)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” —Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God but in the end, we face an eternity separated from God. Hell is real and the worst part of Hell will be an eternity separated from Jesus Christ.

The Bible says …

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
—Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV)

“But your iniquities (sin) have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he

will not hear.” —Isaiah 59:2 (NJKV)

God is Holy and so He can’t have anything to do with sin. The penalty for our sins is eternal death and separation from God. Hell is real, but the good news is that Heaven is also very real. God, in His love for us has provided a path to salvation, a bridge that only Christ can offer.

STEP 3 – BELIEVING IN THE CHRIST AS SAVIOR

Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, died on the Cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people. Jesus never sinned and was free of the penalty, but because of His righteousness, He served as the sacrifice for the sin of the entire world and all of history.

The Bible says …

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” —1 Timothy 2:5 (NKJV)

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.” —1 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)

Notice, God’s love did not start once we accepted Him, God has always loved us. This is why He chose to save us.

”But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” —Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

God has provided the only way to salvation. Each person must make a choice.

STEP 4 – OUR RESPONSE: RECEIVE CHRIST

This amazing salvation is a gift from God, a gift we can either reject or accept. We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive His gift if we want to be saved.

The Bible says …

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” —Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” —John 1:12 (NKJV)

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” —Romans 10:9 (NKJV)

Where are you?

Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?
Here is how you can receive Christ:
1. Admit your need and your guilt (I am a sinner).
2. Be willing to turn your heart from your sins and toward God (repent).

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

5. Commit your life to serving God by obediently becoming a disciple.

If you would like to pray right now and receive Jesus Christ, see Step 5 below.

STEP 5 – PRAYER

Pray to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior

How to Pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to surrender my life to You. I trust You and commit to follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Bible says …

“For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'” —Romans 10:13 (NKJV)

Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” —Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

Receiving Christ, we are born into God’s family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the “new birth.”
This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.
To deepen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ’s representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
