Often, churches are encouraged to hide or downplay their affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention, some even drop the word “baptist” from their name. Here, at First Baptist Church of Freer, we are glad to be associated with the rich heritage, doctrinal integrity and global impact for Christ that comes from being a Southern Baptist Church. While Southern Baptists have made mistakes in our long history, a distinction held by every organization on earth, the facts support a history of lovingly proclaiming the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ.
First Baptist Church is an autonomous body of believers in cooperation with other like-minded congregations across the country and throughout the world. We work for God’s Kingdom along side 16 million members in 45,000 churches from over 200 language groups. We support over 10,000 missionaries, 6 seminaries and countless points of ministry in a global marketplace. We participate in disaster relief efforts, college ministry, medical missions, hunger relief, prison ministry, and ministry to the generations. We are defined by the pursuit of Doctrinal Integrity, Spiritual Vitality, Servant Leadership, Missional Lifestyles, Loving Relationships and Excellence in Service for the Lord.
